Okay pups (and G.G) - I have something to say....

I have been reading alot over the past 24 hours on other bloggies that some pups are thinking of giving up the whole blogging thing. I understand how everyone is feeling about Oscar's passing, and we have all shed many tears in our house too - believe me, I keep thinking mum is playing the trumpet each time she blows her nose !

BUT.....

Look...it's like this, you see....

I am the Gruffpuppy, and the Co-founder of DWB's, and I simply will not allow any of you to cease blogging. It is as simple as that !!!!

So there.....

Blogging is meant to be fun - we laugh, we cry - and we shouldn't feel guilty if we don't get to read/comment on as many bloggies as we would like - because unlike "real" families - we here at DWB's don't hold grudges or make each other feel bad. You do what you can do - and that is good enough.

Please don't stop blogging - the good times far outweigh the bad - and once again, I WILL NOT ALLOW IT !!!! Don't make me get super Gruff with you all, you have no idea how Gruff I can truly be !

What a sad day for all of us DWBers :-(

Our dear friend Oscar didn't make it through his operation.

Our hearts are breaking, and no words can convey the sadness we feel.

All our love to Katy & Martin - we are all here for you.

Our good buddy Bogart made this tribute to Oscar - thanks Bogart, it is a wonderful tribute.

Ride the Fufu Mobile dear, sweet Oscar - you are "one in a million", and truly "gold", just like your award says.

Once upon a time...........

Hey friends,

I know that I am alittle late with this, but as the saying goes "better late than never" - I really enjoyed reading other pup's (and GirlGirl's) interviews/story's with their humans, so I thought I would get in on the excitement :) Here goes....

Opy - Okay mum, give us the dirt - how did you and dad meet ? Please try and keep it brief !
Mum - No need to be rude missy. Let me tell you all about it.....
Opy - Will I need to take a nap in the middle of it ?
Mum - probably....
Opy - Oh dear, who said this was a good idea ?

Mum - The year was 1992, and I was still living at home with my mum and dad....
Opy - Grandma & Grandpa ? I like them - they come and give me good foods when you and dad abandon us......
Mum - yes Opy, that is correct - but if you keep interrupting me - we will be here all day !
Opy - Hmphhh! Continue....
Mum - right, so I was still living with mum and dad - and they had been away in America for a month - so I hadn't really been out anywhere during that month as I was just bumming around the house. The day they were due back, my BFF at the time, said that we should go out that night and party since we hadn't been out is sooooo long. I wasn't too fussed to go - but agreed in the end, mainly just to shut her up I think.
So.......we decided to see this band that we always went and saw - plus it was a $2 drink night, so that was a bonus :)
Anyway, they were playing about 2 hours from my house - so it took us ages to get there, and we had to indulge in a few beverages on the way....
So.....we arrive and I see this guy helping set up the band who I have never seen before - I think to myself "wow, he is ever so dreamy"....
Opy - hahaha, as if you thought that - now that is just stupid.......continue....
Mum - anyway. This guy is really cute and as the night progresses, I see my arch enemy (at the time) talking to him ! Well, I think - I can't let this happen - so off I toddle (okay, stumble !) and introduce myself.......and I guess the rest is history.....Here is a photo of us not long after we met - see, you can see why I fell in love with SHD can't you ?

Opy - yeah, he kinda looks like Jon Bon Jovi - but he is no Antonio Banderas.....
Mum - yes Opy, we know how much you love Antonio ! Why, I don't know...no one else in the house likes him !
Opy - shutup....I won't have you "dissing" Antonio ! Anyway.....
Opy - Why did you get married in Vegas, and why couldn't we attend ?
Mum - okay....as SHD's and my relationship progressed, it was obvious that we were meant to be together (I knew if from the start - we just had to get over the first three years, which were pretty rough - but that's another story...)
Opy - Geez, one story at a time please, I can't keep up !
Mum - sorry, no need to get gruff ! Anyway, after a while - we moved in together and life was good - and got even better when we got Charlie & you......
Opy - ahhhh, now I am interested....more about me please....
Mum - nope - still telling my story, no time for you yet....
Opy - **sigh**
Mum - so, SHD had always said that if he was going to get married, it was going to be in Vegas by Elvis. We had been living together for about 5 years at this point, and thought "why not" - so off we went to Vegas - had an absolute blast - and came back all official ! As to why you and Charlie didn't get to come, well....do you really need me to explain it ? How about I just tell everyone that you start to vomit in the car before you reach the end of the driveway - so as if you would be able to fly ! (Apart from all the official reasons - this one will just have to do !)
Opy - okay mum, you don't have to start embarrassing me !!!
Opy - so, who are these other peeps in your wedding photoes ?

Mum - well, we have Grandma & Grandpa, and our friends Chuck & Karen from Seattle - you remember them right ? They came out to visit a few years ago ?
Opy - Ohhh yes, I remember now - I really liked them ! Haha - look at SHD's long hair !!!
Mum - dad was in a band back in those days, and it was the fashion to have long hair, is that okay ?
Opy - I guess, but I think he looks much more handsomer now.
Opy - Right, so you are now living "happily ever after", why do you go and leave us everyday, I can't say that I am very happy about that !
Mum - comeon Opy, you know why - how else are we going to keep you and Charlie in the manner to which you have grown accostomed too ?
Opy - so, what do you and SHD do all day ?
Mum - Well....I had a huge career change in November last year. I went from many years in the Finance/Stockmarket industry - to being a Sales Rep selling lawnmower parts - for the same company dad (used) to work for.....
Opy - hang on ! You say "dad USED to work for"...what !!!!! Doesn't dad work anymore ? Are we going to die of starvation ??? I am panicking now !!!!!!
Mum - let me finish please....
Opy - ok, please just remember that Charlie eats far more than I do, and if one of us should have to go - it should be him....
Mum - no one is going anywhere ! You know that SHD wasn't happy at his old job, and then he was given the opportunity to go and photograph race cars and get paid a zillion dollars for it ??
Opy - wowy, a zillion - that's alot of bones !
Mum - maybe a slight exaggeration there, but compared to what he was getting paid at his old job - it feels like a zillion - and he only has to work 100 days a year for it....
Opy - ohhh, I like the sound of that - so SHD will be home with us more ?
Mum - yep - so he will be keeping an eye on you both - so you had better start behaving !
Opy - that's no fun !
Mum - so, the short of it is - I still sell lawnmower parts, til I decide what I really want to do, and SHD can now be called a pro photographer.
Opy - If he keeps looking as gruff as he does in this photo he will get fired !!!

Opy - where to next ?
Mum - well....we have some plans for the next few months....dad's job will see us probably move to Melbourne around October, and I am still trying to figure out what I want to do as far as work goes. I am hoping that SHD will eventually earn enough $$ so I can help him, and stay at home more and play with you and Charlie.....
Opy - now you're talking. I like the sounds of that - lots of inside time and treats !
Mum - we shall see !
Mum - I started this interview with a picture of SHD and me when we first met, so here's a recent one of us now.....

Opy - wow ! You have become rather "big boned" over the years mum !!!!
Mum - yep, I sure have - it's called "being content" :) What's your excuse Opy ?
Opy - hey, watch it........that's not nice !
Mum - you started it !
Opy - I know that I am the "gruffpuppy" and all - but I love you mum.....
Mum - I love you too Opy, and Charlie too....
Opy - do you have to love Charlie as well ? Can't you just love me some more ?
Mum - OPY !!!!!!
Opy - ohhhh okay then, no need to get those sleepy pants in a twist !!!! I have nothing more to say......this interview is over !!!

CASPER'S AUCTION PART 2.

We all did a fantastic job helping promote the first auction to help with Casper's medical expenses back in May - and now all his buddies have organised a second Auction. Casper is still very sick - and if you live in the U.S & Canada, you need to go grab your humans wallet and steal all their money and BID, BID, and BID some more !!!! Submissions for the auction are open until July 13th, and the Auction officially opens on July 14th.

Finally.......

Meeshka's Blogathon is upon us again. This was a real hoot last year - me and Charlie got right into the spirit (see July 29thpost) and Meeshka raised over $1000 for "Harnessed for Hope Northern Breed rescue". Let's see if we can do better this year !!!! The challenge starts at 9am on July 28th 2007 - and goes for 24 hours, with Meeshka posting a blog entry every half hour. If I remember correctly, she was quite "gruff" with tiredness by the end of it all last year :)

Don't forget mum and dad's request for a tattoo design - Tubey has done a fine submission, and we are all eagarly awaiting some more. Hehe - Charlie is very "gruff" as his name isn't included :) BUT, hopefully by the end of this year - dad is going to get BOTH of our portraits on his arm, done by Kat Von D - if anyone watches Miami Ink, they will know that she is the most AMAZING portrait tattoo artist EVER ! (Well, that's what mum and dad say) - and dad doesn't trust anyone else to do as good a job.....so, we have to wait awhile for that one.
