Shhhh....don't tell anyone.......

Hi guys,

Just thought I would sneak on whilst mum isn't watching to let you all know how I am doing - mum will freak if she see's me on the computer, as I am meant to be "resting".

I am doing much better - as you can see by my photo - my tail is back up and why it is all blury is because I was giving it a good old wag. I am still on the Metacam and the antibiotic's - but I am feeling so much better. Every now and then I pretend to jump up just to see mum and dad go postal :-) HeHe, aren't I mean :-)

I will post my scans on the weekend - and let you all know what Dr Davis says on Saturday.

Thanks so much for everyone's concern.....it means a lot to us all, it is great to have such wonderful friends :-)

Please go and visit Flossy's blog - and send some good wishes Angus' way, he isn't doing too good :-(

Oops, here comes mum......gotta go....

STUPID.......STUPID........STUPID !!!!

Hi all,

Opy's mum, Brooke, here again. I guess you all know what it means when I have to post on Opy's behalf - she's not doing too well.

Opy was very miserable yesterday - she had her tail tucked down between her back legs, was trembling alot, and was yelping in pain every now and again when she moved. Greg and I were very worried about her.

I had to go to STUPID Canberra this morning, and when I checked on her before I left - she was still in bed, so I left her there resting. When Greg got up, he rang me and said she was worse today and was wimpering alot with pain. I immediately rang Dr Davis and Greg took her in to see him at 11am. The STUPID other Vet seems to gotten it all wrong - her crutiate ligament is not the problem, it is her spine. Dr Davis seemed to think she either has a spinal fracture, or a ruptured disc (maybe she is trying to copy Queen Meeshka's brother Sammy?).

So, he has done some xrays and he is 99.9% sure that she has compressed a disc in her spine - the other.01% doesn't bare thinking about, and that is that her tumour that she had out last June has come back and spread. We both trust Dr Davis' diagnosis, and will go with the compressed disc.

Treatment is Metacam, antibiotics, and rest. He doesn't think she will need an operation, as it is the first time she has done anything like this - and she usually responds well to treatment. We have to take her back on Saturday (Charlie too - as it is his thyroid check up time) to see how she is progressing.

I curse the STUPID vet who told us the wrong thing, and I also curse the fact that I am stuck in STUPID Canberra, and won't be home til Wednesday. I am worried about our little gruffpuppy ! I am very grateful, however, that I have a wonderful husband who I know will look after her in my absence and spoil her rotten to help make her feel better :-)

Will keep you all updated.

The big reveal.....voting......sad news......

Well pups, here we are at the weekend, and as promised - here is my big reveal :-)

Mum found a really cool web place in her search for the illusive Cuz, it's called Molleycoddled Pets and not only did it have the Cuz, but some wonderful treats too :-) I told mum that she
couldn't just buy stuff for me, she had to get some stuff for some of my other Aussie pals as well - and since Charlie was paying (as I stoled some of his pocket money), she was in agreeance. This is what was in the BIG box, we sure had some fun opening it up. I was interested in the Cuz at first, but when I caught a whiff of those yummy biscuits - well, what's a gal to do ? They were ever so tasty - and suddenly it didn't seem like such a great idea to send these particular items to my buddies ! LOL ! So, we packed up the smaller boxes, and sent one to our buddy Texas, and two others - but I can't tell you who yet, as I don't think they have receieved them - and we don't want to ruin the surprise. It was lots of fun - sharing is so cool :-)Mum and dad had to "vote" today - I thought they meant over on the Bone Zone, but they actually had to go out and vote at a special place. You see, it's some sort of erection - or is that election? - out here and they get fined if they don't vote, something about it being compulsory, or something ? All I know is that they grumbled alot about having to go do it - and said that they were gonna vote for Tubey, to help him in his Presidential Campaign.

Check out the size of this ballot paper - what a huge waste of paper ! Notice how gruff dad looks :-)Finishing on some very sad news here today. Dear Dakota from The Brat Pack passed away today :-( We will all miss you, and hope that you are now running free and happy. Thinking of the rest of the pack, and your family in this very hard time.

PS - Opy's mum Brooke here. We've had a small medical emergency with Opy today. When we came home from the shops, she jumped up to greet us, and then started yelping. We rushed over to her and could see that she couldn't walk properly on her back left leg. We thought that she may have pulled a muscle - so left her for a few minutes to see if it improved. It didn't - so we took her to our local vet (as Dr Davis was closed) and it seems she has a tear of the cruciate ligament in her knee :-( She is okay - I think it is just alittle uncomfortable for her. The Vet gave her a shot of Metacam, and we need to give her it daily for a week and see how she goes. We will get her through the weekend - and if she is showing no signs of improvement - we will take her to see Dr Davis on Monday. Never a dull moment here at our house.....**

Spy Camera's, Polls, and Bathies........

So, mum "goes away" every fortnight for two days. I often wonder where she goes, and why can't she take me - instead of leaving me home with the "men folk" (Charlie and dad). This time I was sneaky, I smuggled my spy camera in her luggage to take some automatic photoes - so we could all judge as to whether her trips are "Opy suitable" or not.....what do you all think ?

"Lake George" near Canberra - doesn't look too much like a "Lake" to me !

This is where mum stays - her car is the blue one - surely I could be smuggled in to here ?

Plenty of room for me to stretch my legs.....

WOW - a big drinking dish for me......maybe this motel is pet friendly ?

This is between Canberra and Batemans Bay - see, good ground coverage for me to "do my business"......

YUCK....you can have those prawns all to yourself mum.....

The view from her second motel in Mollymook....

On the way home via Sanctuary Point..... hmm, there seems to be an awful lot of water in these photoes, maybe I would be best to stay home....you all know how I feel about water ????

Secondly, the March polls are now open for the "Awesome Blog Award" and the "Photo of the Month" - go ahead and vote, join in the fun :-) There are some great nominations this month. Vote here.....

Also, dad has created a new section in "the Bone Zone, "For The Humans" - as we have so many blogs now, we thought it a good idea to have a section in the Bone Zone where we can all keep eachother updated on any important news or goings on on any of the blogs that you all read. For example, Miss Sunshade's mum, Elaine isn't doing so well, after having a car accident, so we posted a "get well" message to her here. Please go and leave a note and make her feel better.

Thirdly, I had a bathies today - how unimpressed am I ? A definate 11 on the "Gruff-o-meter" !

Have a great weekend pups :-)

Love
Opy
the gruffpuppy who thinks mum could take her on her trips !

PS - My friend Billy pointed me in the direction of a wonderful blog that I had never visited before. This blog highlights that there are kind and compassionate people out there, willing to help those of us doggies that aren't as fortunate as others. Jingjing rescues doggies - and does it all from her own pocket - no funding help, nothing - just because she wants to help. In a perfect world, their would be no need for people like Jingjing - but unfortunately, our world is far from perfect, and we all need to thank Jingjing for all the hardwork she does. Go stop by her blog and say hello.

Taking care of business.........

Hey pups,

Not much going on in my world at the moment - mum and dad are really busy and mum has declared - rather dramatically too, I might add - that their working lives are in "turmoil". I have no idea what that means, but it has been a constant source of discussion between them over the past few weeks. I do apologise to all my buddies for not leaving as many comments on all your blogs as I would like too - but until this "turmoil" passes, I guess I can't bug mum too much.

So......

First up. Please go and visit Ozzy's blog - and donate a few $$ if you can to a really great cause that he and his mum is involved in. I'll leave it up to his blog to tell you all about it, but having had ye olde cancer myself, it is a cause quite close to my heart.

Next......

Big "get well" wishes to Kelsey & my sweet Maxey. Both have had a rough time lately - and I want you all to go and wish them a speedy recovery. There is power in a mass group effort, so with all our help - I am sure they will both be feeling better in no time :-)

Lastly.......

I want a Cuz :-( Does any of my Ozzie pal's know where I can get one out here ? I feel tragically unhip without one :-( All my buddies have them......I want one, I want one.......(stomps paw to emphasise the point) :-) Mum said she might have to try Ebay.

Well, that's about it for now - not much else going on. Catch you all soon.

Lots of love
Opy
the gruffpuppy who hopes this "turmoil" will pass soon !

Thank you sweet Fu-Fu, Memoirs of a Papillon, and bits and pieces -

First up, I need to thank my dear friend Fu-Fu for the wonderful card that you sent to us. Mum and dad don't check the P.O box as often as they should - so we have only just received it. It is a beautiful card and we were all very touched by your kindness in sending it to us Fu-Fu. Thank you - big sloppy licks :-)

Secondly, dad receieved an email awhile ago from a man called Dennis Fried, who had written a book - or I should say, he had typed the book up as he has the opposable thumbs, but the book was actually written by his dog Genevieve. Anyway, he wanted to send dad a copy of the book for him to read - so, that also arrived last week. Mum got it on Thursday, and finished reading it on Friday :-) It is a great read she says - it is just like a 130 page blog :-) Genevieve is a real character, and mum thinks all of the humans here at DWB's would really ge a kick out of reading it. It made her laugh, and there was a few times she was nodding her head and looking at me as if to say "hmmm, I can relate to that". So, if you are looking for a new book to read, mum thoroughly recommends this one.In honour of MJ & Texas' "bits" post - I present to you all "my bits" -

My very best gruff face -

My left front paw -

Both front paws -

The back of my head - I am ignoring you mum !

My ear - some would say I have supersonic hearing when it comes to food !

My tail - it wags alot !

My teefies - not many left on the bottom :-(

Finally, me smiling - I love the weekends when mum and dad are home :-)

Hope you are all having a great weekend :-)

Love
Opy
the gruffpuppy who hates having her photo taken !
