LAZY DAYS.....

Hi all - not much to blog about today, it's been a pretty lazy day all 'round.

Mum and dad have spent most of the time on the computers and the lounge - we have had "open door" so have just wandered in and out at leisure. We had our bones this morning and have generally just been pretty lazy. Life is good :-)

Big news this week was that it is two years since mum gave up the cigarettes. We are all pretty proud of her - she still says she misses them, but wouldn't dare go back to them as we would all be very gruff with her if she did !

S.H.D reworked the DWB site, so it all looks like The Bone Zone, I think it looks super cool - he put alot of work into it, and it turned out really good, dontcha all think ?

Don't forget about the Christmas Card Exchange - go here for more details.

We have also decided to make Fu-Fu an honorary DWB member - but I think he should be a Hamsterdor, not a Hamsterrier :-)

I also came up with the idea of DWB's "tried and tested" recipe's - kinda like a cookbook of all our favourite foods that our human's make for us. Go here, and check it out. If you would like to contribute, just email your recipe's.

Not much else going on pups, so I will go back to snoozing for awhile - big football game on tonight - go the Bronco's :-)

Hey all you groovy pups !

I'm back - and feeling pretty good about that too, I might add ! Well, we have had an eventful few days - check out Charlie's blog for all the details, I won't repeat it all - let's just say, it was a pretty scary time and I am glad that we now have the power and the water - and the phone back on. Mum said that if she had to sit there for any longer talking to dad - she was going to go bonkers ! She said it was nice and "romantic" (huh?) for the first hour - sitting in the dark with candles, but dragging on for nearly two days was "pushing it BIG time" ! Thanks to everyone for thinking of us - it was really nice to read everyone's warm wishes.

So, before it all went "funky" - I was going to show you all my new bandana. Charlie got one too - we got them from Butchy & Snickers mum at Snitchybug Dog Designs. I urge you all to head on over there and buy something - then you can all look as good as me :-)

Miss Sunshade's mum, Elaine - has come up with a great idea for a D.W.B Christmas card exchange. Go here for further details - of course we have signed up, it will be LOTS of fun !

Congratulations to Miss Sunshade - Awesome Blog Award winner, Ivy - Featured Blog for October, and Magic Fever - Photo of the Month. It was a great contest this month - very close with the voting and so cool to see everyone in the spirit of things. The winners will be featured here on the main D.W.B page come October.

We had lots of visitors over the weekend, before the big winds came. I know that our food consumption was already on Charlie's blog - but I think it bears repeating here as it was so impressive -

sat breakfast - diet mush
breakfast desert - rawhide chews
morning tea - big bone
lunch - potato chip leftovers
afternoon tea - rawhide chews
dinner - canned goods
desert - rawhide chews
dinner 2 - barbequed shanks
desert 2 - rawhide chews
midnight snack - bread roll

sun breakfast - leftover barbequed sausages, steak and chicken pieces with crackers
breakfast desert - rawhide chew
morning tea - big bone
lunch - barbequed shank

then we lost the power and everything went "pear shaped", as mum says. I think I will be back on my diet come the weekend though - I don't want to undo all that good work I did, but I sure did enjoy all that yummy food :-)

I will catch up on all my "comment leaving" as soon as I can - the D.W.B list is gtting so long now, it takes me a few hours, and I get very tired and usually have to have a snnoze break in the middle :-)

Off to bed now,

lots of love

Opy

Hi all,

Opy's mum, Brooke here - shhh, don't tell anyone, but I am writing this quick entry from work - very naughty of me, but I just had to let all of Charlie and Opy's friends know why the blogs haven't been updated, and why they haven't been very active in the "comment leaving" department over the past few days.

Well, the joys of living out in the country means that when we get BIG storms and BIG trees fall down, and BIG bushfires spring up - we lose our electricity. We lost our power at 1.30pm yesterday and as of 11.30am today - we are still without power, and no power for us, not only means no computers - but it also means no water - so that really blows ! We need electricty to power the pumps on our water tank - so we have had no water for the past 24hours, no washing up, no flushing toilets, no showers, no nothing !!!!!

Needless to say, SHD is going out to buy a generator today so at least we can get the pumps going so we can flush the toilets etc, but we still won't have hot water - and it still won't help the fact that ALL my frozen items in my fridge and freezers will ALL have to be thrown away ! Yep, I am pretty "gruff" about that !!! But, we are all okay - which is pretty lucky considering the devastation that has gone on around us.

Anyway, will be back "on line" as soon as we can.....look after eachother whilst we aren't about, okay :-)

Love
Opy's mum, Brooke

Well................moderate celebrations are in progress !

Initial Weight - 41.3 kg's (91 pounds)
Target weight - 36 kg's (71.5 pounds)

Weigh in today - on PROPER vet's scales :-) - drumroll please...........

39.6 kg's (87 pounds)

loss of nearly 2 kg's (4.4 pounds).

Okay, it's nowhere near what I need to be - but I am pretty happy - maybe if I stopped munching on poo I would lose more ?

So, after this monumental event - I deserved a reward - as it was already "bone day", I don't count that as a reward, I was thinking a cheeseburger or similar would be fitting - and what do I get ? A freakin' bath !!!!!!! Where's the justice in that ? So Gruff and unimpressed !!!!

Mum must have picked up on my gruffness and relented and gave me and Charlie canned goods for dinner :-) I still have a ways to go on my diet - and I did hear mum mention this word "exercise" - but I am not familiar with that word - does any pup know what that means, and care to explain it to me ?

Til tomorrow guys (and gals),

Evening all,

This is my "I am so gruff that you haven't helped me update by blog for a whole 4 days" face !

I have to agree with Bogart - I don't understand this "work" business, I just can't fathom why it has to be done, I mean - I don't have to go to work, Charlie doesn't have to go to work - why does mum and dad ? It really blows - dad's job takes him away from us one night a week (although mum gets to drink a bottle of wine "to help her sleep when he's not here", so I don't think she minds too much, but we do!), and we miss him heaps ! And mum goes at 6.15am each morning and doesn't get home until 7.15pm - sometimes later - and we miss her heaps too. Why can't they just stay home and play with us ? Is it because of this thing called "money" ? If it is, I need to devise a foolproof plan to get lots of this "money" stuff - and then I will share it with you other doggies - than all of our humans can stay home with us all the time !

Nominations for Awesome Blog and Photo of the Month will be announced this weekend - so check out the Bone Zone, and if you have someone you would like to nominate, please do :-)

Mum's grumpy about the outcome of Rockstar-Supernova ! Boy, she has just been going on and on about it ! I keep catching words like "rigged", "bogus" and "rip-off". I have no idea what that all means, but I gather she is none to happy with the result. Please help me to help her not get sucked in by it again next season - I don't think I could stand to go through it all again !

Big weigh in for me tomorrow - yes, at the Vet's on the "proper" scales ! I refuse to suffer the indignity again of that whole other scale business that I wrote about previously on my blog. I will let you all know how I go - paws crossed for me, okay.

This is me catching a rusky chewy - right down the hatch - how big are my chops ?

Til tomorrow - goodnight !

We will never forget.

September 11, 2001

Our thoughts to the many lost, the many left to grieve, and a world forever scarred by this tragic event.

Saturday, September 09, 2006

Hi all,

Well, I think that
Meeshka's "International Lazy Day" has finally reached Australia. Yep, we are alittle behind out here, but it definately has arrived. Not much happening in our doggie world at the moment. We have had some rain over the past few days - which has been much needed, but still don't think it is enough to make a huge difference.

After all the sad
news of this past week, here's a funny little story that might make you all smile -

Yesterday
mum and dad were going to take Charlie and I to the local Vet's for our diet weigh in.

Well, it was really raining hard yesterday, and none of us really wanted to go out in it. So, mum (in her infinate wisdom) came up with a plan to weigh me.

First, she went and got the big human scales, the ones that go up to 150kg (331pounds). Dad's kinda looking at her as if to say - "you know that you won't be able to get Opy to sit still on those" ? Nope, mum had a better idea !

She makes dad get on the scales first - and records his weight - sorry, but I can't
divulge this information, I have been sworn to secrecy.

Then, she tells dad to get off and pick me up and get back on.

Now, if I was the size of
Mary-Margaret, or Tigersan - this wouldn't be a problem. But, you all know how ehhhm "large" I am - so dad's just looking at mum with this "you got to be freakin' kiddin' me" look on his face, and I am just sitting there waiting to see how this is going to play out.

So, mum fixes dad with the "I'm not kidding, don't mess with me" glare - and he reluctantly attempts to pick me up.

We are wobbling around on the scales, mum has tears rolling down her face and can't stop laughing enough to read the scales, dad is going "hurry up, she's freakin' heavy", and I am just hanging about with my legs dangling
from dad's arms.

Mum tells me and dad to stop the wiggling as the scales keep moving, and dad fixes her with his "if you don't stop laughing and read the damn scales, we can swap
places" death glare.

Finally she gets the reading, and we all collapse in a heap on the floor - mum and dad are laughing so hard, I thought they might pee themselves - I feel humiliated at the indignity of what I have just been though, and
Charlie is just sitting there with a "don't even think that you are gonna try that caper with me" kinda look.

After everyone catches their breath, the calculations begin.

Let's subtract dad's weight from mine and see what we come up with.

WHAT !!!!!
One freakin' kilogram ! No way, that can't be right ! I have been on this stupid diet for 2 weeks and I have lost 1 kilogram (2.2pounds) !!!!! I want a re-weigh !! I will even get in the car and go to the Vet's so I can be weighed properly - I refuse to
believe that I have been just about starved for two whole weeks and for the sake of 1 kilogram.

How gruff am I ????

Mum thinks it's "bogus" too as she reckons when she looks at me she can tell that I have lost weight - so, when we get a chance, we will go to the Vets for a proper weigh in.

What a drama this whole situation has been ! Mum says we should have captured the whole debarcle on the camera so I could have posted it here on my blog - somehow I don't think she would have been capable of taking a pic whilst all this was going on !

End of funny story !

I also helped dad do his work reports - I am very helpful when it comes to things like that :-)

Oh, we have had lots of new pups added to our ever growing dogswithblogs list - as always, go and say hello and make them feel welcome.

Nominations for "Awesome Blog award" and "Photo of the Month" in the
Bone Zone will be announced next week, so every doggie have a think who they would like to nominate and head on over to the Bone Zone.

We also have a Poll going in the
Bone Zone which we would appreciate some input on - dad is thinking about redesigning the front page of dogswithblogs - go here , login, and vote for how you would like to see the page evolve.

That's about it for now - back to my bone and having a snooze :-) Charlie and I know what that blue bag means - BONES !!!!!

ANOTHER AUSSIE ICON..............GONE

Farewell Peter Brock - Holden or Ford, it doesn't matter - a true Aussie legend. You bought so much to motor racing, and will be sadly missed.

I guess for us Aussies, Peter Brock would be the equivalent of the best Nascar driver that the US has ever produced. What a terrible week - first Steve Irwin, now Peter Brock - Meeshka, please tell Uncle Jack to go home !

WHO'S BED IS IT ANYWAY ?

Hey everyone,

Well, if you follow my blog at all - my main mission in life - apart from eating and sleeping - is to graduate to sleeping on mum and dad's bed. I am always heaps envious of all you other pups out there who have the honour of the "bed sleep" - and I never thought I would attain it. WELL ! If you have read Charlie's blog lately, you will know that mum moved a bed (briefly) into the computer room on account of the noisy frogs. Finally, I got some bed time ! And how sweet it was ! I could REALLY get used to that - I SO didn't want to get off, plus it was just the right height for me and everything - I didn't even have to jump up. Look at me, how happy and comfortable do I look ? Doggy heaven, or what ?

My diet is progressing quite well, I think. Mum tried to get me to sit on her scales today - but it wasn't very sucessful. So, next weekend I will go to the local vet's to just get weighed. I am sure I have lost some weight though - I mean how could I have not ? All I am eating is stupid beans and carrots - makes me very gruff ! I'll tough it out though - as the sooner I lose my weight the sooner I can get back to eating cheeseburgers :-)

What else ? Oh, it's Fathers Day over here in Australia - so, Happy Father's Day dad, I love you lots. I would have bought you a present, but since you are also behind me having to go on a diet - well, I don't think you deserve one ! Just kidding - I'll find something in the kennel for you to have later, do you like bird feathers ?

Also, just letting you all know that we have dropped our prices in the DogsWithBlogs store - hopefully that will entice some more peeps to go and have a look and buy something. As always, all proceeds to Monika's Doggie Rescue. Check it out, you might see something you like.

Nothing much else going on. It's been pretty hot this weekend - especially since it's only the beiginning of spring - I hope this isn't an indication as to how hot summer is going to be - I hate the heat :-(

Welcome back to MJ too - we have missed you heaps :-)

Oh, I almost forgot ! Go and check out our new and improved Bone Zone - how cool is it ? Dad put alot of work into it and I reckon it looks great. You will have to update your bookmarks though if you have this page bookmarked, as the url has changed. One great new feature is the "easy add" for pictures, one click and your done ! The launch has been just in time for the next round of awards - nominations will be announced soon, so everyone have a think who you would like to nominate for "Awesome Blog Award" and "Photo of the Month." We've already got some great photoes for next months poll - so, keep 'em all coming !

I also want to apologise for not visiting many blogs over the weekend and leaving comments - mum and dad weren't home much this weekend, and as independant as I would like you all to believe I am - well, you know my big fat paws can't press the wee small button on the computer to turn it on without mum's help ! So, I promise to make up for it during the week :-)

Love
Opy
the gruffpuppy who really wants to sleep on mum and dad's bed !

Don't forget - have you seen Beau, please spread the word.

HAVE YOU SEEN BEAU ?

We received an email today about Beau - such a sad story, and I know how horrible it would be for all of our mum's and dad's if this happened to us.

So, please - have a look at the web page and spread the word. DogsWithBlogs reaches all over the world, and someone may know someone who knows something about poor Beau - please take the time to have a look.

Love

Opy
the gruffpuppy who doesn't understand how humans can be so horrible.
